Diane Bordonaro transitioned to a career in higher education in 2008 after spending more than two decades in nursing. As a nurse, Diane cared for people across their lifespans from birth through adulthood. Her role in community nursing at a high school and residential college led to her interest in working with students and supporting them in their transition to careers that provide economic stability. While at Middlesex Community College, she used her experience as a registered nurse to set standards and develop new programs in the allied health field. At MxCC, Diane formed relationships with business and industry partners across multiple industry sectors and developed new training programs that provide industry certifications. Since joining CT State Community College in July 2020, she has been strategically implementing best practices that break down systemic barriers which prevent many from accessing higher education. She is recognized as a strong advocate for those starting or transitioning into new careers and those seeking high-quality, skills-based training leading to good jobs. Diane is recognized as a workforce development leader across the state and has presented on workforce trends and initiatives at national conferences.

Diane holds a Master of Science in Nursing Education from the University of Hartford. She received her Registered Nurse from Ona M. Wilcox School of Nursing in Middletown, CT and holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from UConn.
