Senior Citizen Waivers

  • Senior citizen waivers are available only for courses taken during the fall and spring terms.
  • Students must be 62 or older to qualify. 
  • Only credit-bearing courses are eligible for waivers.
  • Both in-person and online courses are eligible for waivers.
  • Students may take multiple courses each semester using the waiver.
  • Classes may be taken for a grade or as an audit.
  • Audit requests must be received by the posted deadline available on the CT State Academic Calendar.
  • Please note that there are restrictions related to the use of senior citizen waivers (Statute C.G.A. 10a-77(d)(3)).
  • The CT State Community College Senior Waiver only covers Tuition, College Service Fees, and the Student Activity Fee.
  • Senior Citizens are responsible for paying the U-Pass/Transportation Fee; Lab, Supplemental, Material and Program fees are not waived.

**Tuition, as well as college service and student activity fees will be waived. However, lab and U-
Pass/transportation fees, supplemental, material and program fees are not eligible for waivers and must be paid at the time of registration.

Registration Details

  • Students must apply and be admitted to the college before registering for courses.
  • Documentation of age must be provided at time of registration.
  • Senior citizen registration starts the day before classes begin and is determined on a first-come, first-served space-available basis.
  • Registration must be done in person at a One Stop Enrollment Center on any CT State campus. Online registration is not available with senior citizen tuition waivers.
  • Be sure to check the course schedule to determine times, meeting places and prerequisite requirements for the course you'd like to register for.
