Please Note: If you have previously attended one of the twelve (12) CT community colleges or satellite campuses, you are considered a Readmit Student.

Most students can find the information they need on this webpage. You are welcome to contact a Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE) coordinator with specific questions about your evaluation.

B. who will be contacting me? C. when can I register for classes? Three, what should I do if I haven't heard anything about my transfer credits?

Cartoon woman 1 pints to text on screen:

Students wishing to transfer coursework completed at another college or university must request an official college transcript to be sent to CT State Community College through a verified electronic service such as parchment college board, national student clearing house, etc.

Cartoon man 1 appears on screen. Looks like he’s thinking as icons of a school building, papers and a representation of CT State pop up around his head with arrows connecting them. Logos of electronic services mentioned in audio pop up at the top of the screen.

0:58

Out-of-country college transcripts outside of the United States must be evaluated for foreign education credential evaluation by an NACE or AIC member organization. A course-by-course evaluation translation is recommended.

Animated map of the world pops up on screen with icons representing transcripts pop up in countries outside of the US. NACES and AICE logos appear on right side of screen.

1:15

CT State partners with SPANTRAN to offer credential evaluations that meet the college transcript evaluation requirement at a discounted rate.

Icon representing CT State pops on left side of screen,

Shaking hands icon in center and SPANTRA logo on right.

1:26

Please note, if you are a visiting student and do not plan to complete a certificate or associate’s degree here at CT State, you can submit a copy of your unofficial transcripts during the application

process with CT State and work directly with your campus one-stop office or guided pathways adviser to register for your courses. Please do not send your official transcripts to CT State as it is not necessary for you to register for classes and they will not be evaluated.

Cartoon woman 2 in head covering pops up on screen. Thought bubble pops above her head showing her thinking about the audio.

1:58

Transfer credit evaluations are performed for accepted degree/certificate-seeeking CT state students based on their current program of study. To meet the graduation residency requirement, students must complete 25% of the minimum credit requirements for degree or certification coursework at CT State. Courses that apply for the students degree and/or certificate program will

be graded for transfer with a grade of C minus or above, including P pass, equivalent to satisfactory grading systems and will appear on the college transcript as TR.

Cartoon woman 1 appears on left of screen, on right is an icon representing transcripts with magnifying glass over it.

This changes to a graduate cheering and then a list of eligible course rules that are being read in the audio.

2:32

Transfer grades are not included in CTE's calculation of grade point average. For transfer credit, a course must either correspond to one offered at the college or be pertinent to a specific program.

Woman 1, smaller now, points to large clipboard with words mirroring the audio. Chart with two columns demonstrating how courses from prior institutions must correspond with CT State courses.

2:45

Copies of transcripts or unofficial transcripts are not accepted for transfer credit evaluation for our

certificate and associate;s degree-seeeking students.

File folder appears on screen. Large x covers it.

2:54

Transcripts are reviewed, evaluated and completed in the order in which they are received, following the date of acceptance or receipt of the official transcript provided the student has been accepted for admission within 10 business days. Credits are transferred in from regionally accredited institutions only. After submission of documents, students will receive an email communication on the status of their transfer credit evaluations.

Cartoon Woman 3 sits at desk happily typing and thinking of a magnifying glass. To the right another woman at a desk slides into the frame and an email is sent between them.

3:20

Please note that for certificate and associates degree seeeking students, you do not need to wait for your transcripts to be evaluated before registering for classes.

Cartoon man 2 replaces women on screen, also happily typing on his laptop. To the right, a clock icon with a large x over it pops up.

3:29

However, you should consult with your guided pathways advisor about what to take here at CT State. Please bring an unofficial copy of your transcript to your advising session as this will help your guided pathways advisor provide some guidance as to what you should take and what you should avoid until your transcripts have been processed.

Woman 1 appears on screen again. Person appears to right, representing an advisor. They wave at each other. Advisor and man 2 sit at desk together and talk about transfer.

3:49

The transfer credit team is always here to assist you and you can reach out directly to your assigned transfer credit evaluator at any time.

5 cartoon people, representing the transfer credit team stand in group and wave. Zoom in to one of them and then woman 2 on screen again, representing her reaching out to them.

3:58

The contact information for all the transfer credit evaluators is listed on our transfer website.

Thank you for watching. We hope to see you at one of our institutions soon.

Transfer Credit Evaluation Information and Procedures

  • Only transfer coursework that applies to your current program of study will be awarded to your CT State transcript. As a result, you may have completed a course at another institution that is not applied to your CT State record because it does not apply to your current program, even though the course may satisfy a prerequisite for a CT State course you would like to take.  If you believe you have completed prior coursework that satisfies a prerequisite, please speak with a Guided Pathways advisor or One-Stop enrollment staff member about requesting a prerequisite waiver. A prerequisite waiver may allow you to register for the next course without having the prior coursework applied to your CT State transcript.
  • Transfer credit evaluations are completed only for regionally accredited institutions.
  • Courses that apply to your degree or certificate program will be transferred when the minimum grade earned is C- or higher, including a Pass (P) grade that is equivalent to satisfactory academic completion. Transferred courses will appear on the CT State academic transcript with a grade of “TR.”
    • TR is not included in the CT State Grade Point Average (GPA) calculation.
  • Transfer courses must have a direct equivalent to a course in CT State’s Catalog or fall under a subject area offered to be considered as an elective.
  • Personal copies of transcripts and unofficial transcripts are not acceptable for transfer credit evaluation. See the section below titled "Send Official College Transcripts to CT State" for information on how to request official college transcripts.
  • Students will receive email communications regarding evaluation status updates.
  • Students must complete a minimum of 25% of credits required to earn a degree/certificate at CT State to meet institutional residency requirements.

Students should take the English placement test upon acceptance. If you are a student on an F1 Visa, please see our International Students webpage for more information.

Non-Degree Students

Transfer credit evaluations are performed for continuing and accepted degree/certificate-seeking students based on current program of study. Non-Degree students are not required to request official transcripts and may instead use an unofficial copy to assist with class registration.
