Do you want to turn your love of hair and beauty care into a career? The Cosmetology/Hairdressing program can get you there!
This program will train you in haircutting and hairstyling, along with a range of other beauty services focused on hair, skin and nails. Learn to properly wash, condition, cut, color and style hair using combs, brushes, curling irons, blow dryers, scissors and other tools, perform scalp and hair treatments, clean wigs and hairpieces, perform manicures and pedicures and apply makeup.
This program is divided into five modules that will train you to become a licensed hairdresser. Each module is 300 hours and includes theory and practical hours. A certificate of completion will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of all five training modules*.
Instructional Hours Include:
Sanitation and Hygiene: 15 Classroom Hours | 20 Clinical/Practical Hours
Anatomy and Physiology: 15 Classroom Hours | 0 Clinical/Practical Hours
Chemical Procedures: 30 Classroom Hours | 200 Clinical/Practical Hours
Hair Care and Treatment: 20 Classroom Hours | 200 Clinical/Practical Hours
Skin Care, Facials, Make-up and Manicuring: 30 Classroom Hours | 120 Clinical/Practical Hours
Hair Shaping, Styling & Texturizing: 75 Classroom Hours | 750 Clinical/Practical Hours
Business and Professional Relations: 10 Classroom Hours | 10 Clinical/Practical Hours
State Laws for Hairdressers and EEOC Guidelines: 5 Classroom Hours | 0 Clinical/Practical Hours
Total: 200 Classroom Hours | 1,300 Clinical/Practical Hours
In This Course You'll Learn To:
- demonstrate the proper techniques used to wash, condition, cut (shape and texturize), color, highlight, balayage, apply chemical relaxers, and style hair using combs, brushes, curling irons, flat irons, blow dryers, scissors and other tools
- properly perform scalp and hair treatments, clean wigs and hairpieces, perform basic manicures, and apply makeup
- demonstrate industry-recognized sanitation and hygiene protocols
- recognize proper business management and practices
- discuss professionalism in a salon environment
- explain state laws for hairdressers and EEOC guidelines
Admission Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- GED or high school diploma
