SOLIDWORKS is one of the largest computer-aided design (CAD) software programs used globally across numerous industries including manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, defense, medical devices, robotics and automation, consumer products, construction and more.
The SOLIDWORKS program provides basic to advanced training in the tools and concepts for the SOLIDWORKS engineering and design software. The course will give individuals the skills and knowledge to create simple parts and assemblies with their corresponding drawings to drafting standards. Individuals in this course will have the opportunity to work closely with the CNC Machining and CMM programs to simulate a real-world manufacturing shop environment.
You can expect to work to progressively become more complex as the semester progresses.
In This Course You’ll Learn To:
- develop proficiency in parametric modeling using SolidWorks software, enabling the creation of complex 3-D designs
- thoroughly understand the paperless computer-based design process and its applications in engineering and manufacturing
- apply design engineering principles to solve real-world design challenges effectively
- Understand and utilize assembly modeling, mechanism analysis, rapid prototyping and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- collaborate effectively within a team environment to execute design projects, while also demonstrating the ability to independently analyze tolerance stackups.
Admission Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- GED or high school diploma
