Manuel Gomez, Ph.D.
Associate Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs Operations
Dr. Gomez serves as Associate Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs Operations at CT State. He previously held leadership roles as Associate Vice President of Academic Operations and Interim CEO at both Housatonic and Quinebaug Valley.
Before joining CT State, he was Vice President of Academic Affairs at Estrella Mountain Community College in Arizona and Associate Provost and Registrar at National American University, where he oversaw faculty evaluation, credentialing, promotion and professional development to ensure instructional quality across campuses and online programs. He has also served as Dean at Morton College and Illinois Valley Community College, and as faculty at Saint John Fisher College, the University of Arizona and Pima Community College, teaching Spanish, Latin American History and Culture, and Leadership.
His experience also includes serving as Director of Education and Training at the Higher Learning Commission, where he developed curricula on general education and data analysis for more than 1,000 institutions nationwide. Throughout his career, Dr. Gomez has led academic operations, faculty development and curriculum design with a focus on maintaining quality, equity and student success across diverse learning environments.
Dr. Gomez earned his Ph.D. in philosophy with a focus on Spanish literature and culture from the University of Arizona and completed post-doctoral work in community college leadership at the University of Texas, Austin. He is multilingual in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
