Schedule an Advising Session
Your GP Advisor regularly reaches out to you through your student email with direct links to book an appointment on campus or virtually. To access your email account, log-in to myCTState and look for “View/Access College Email.” If you cannot find any emails from your advisor, please reach out to the Guided Pathways Advising main office.
Before requesting an appointment with your advisor, identify what student type you are from the categories below and read more about preparing for and scheduling your advising appointment. Note: The advising requirements may be different for each student type.
Welcome! Students must first apply and be admitted to CT State before meeting with an advisor. Prior to your meeting, please ensure placement documents and transcripts are on file with the Admissions office. This will ensure you receive the best advising experience. Without placement information and/or transfer credits in the system, the GP Advising team will be limited in how they can assist you.
Once you’ve received your acceptance email from Admissions, you’re ready to make your New Student Enrollment appointment. Here you'll learn more about myCTState and register for your first semester classes.

Times don't work for you? Please email guidedpathways@nv.edu to set up an alternate time.
Tip: It’s best to have set up your myCTState account prior to your appointment. Our priority is to ensure a smooth transition into college.
Questions? Please email GuidedPathways@nv.edu or call 203-575-8025 and we’ll be happy to assist you!
Congratulations and we look forward to seeing you soon!
As a continuing student, you are encouraged to connect with your Guided Pathways (GP) advisor to prepare for registration, AND your faculty advisor or program coordinator to learn more about your degree path. To guarantee time with your advisor, please schedule an appointment. Advisors can meet with you in-person, virtually, or over the phone. Same day service is not guaranteed without an appointment.
GP advisors are assigned by your degree/certificate program. To schedule an appointment, find your advisor listed in the "Meet the Team" section on this page.
During the academic year, current students planning for the next semester should meet with their faculty advisor for course selection.
Need help finding your faculty advisor?
1. Go to myCTState
2. Log in using your NetID and password
3. Select “Banner Student and Faculty Self-Service”
4. Go to “Student Records”
5. Select “Advisor and Major”
If you are unable to get in contact with your faculty advisor you can schedule an appointment with your GP advisor .
If you are transferring from another institution and enrolling in a degree or certificate program at CT State, please follow the steps below to make an appointment with a Guided Pathways (GP) advisor to register for classes.
- If you have not already done so, complete the college application by clicking here.
- Request an official transcript(s)* from any and all institutions previously attended to be sent electronically to CT State Community college through Parchment www.parchment.com. Your sending institution may also send them directly to CTState-TranscriptEval@ct.edu. Transcripts will be evaluated in the order they are received and applied to your account at that time. You will receive emails notifying you as to the progress of your transfer evaluation.
- Once you receive an email notifying your evaluation is complete, you may set up an appointment to meet with a GP advisor who specializes in your degree area. To schedule an appointment, find your advisor listed on this page.
*Please note: If you are unable to request an official transcript from your institution(s) students can bring an unofficial transcript to your appointment, but we may not be able to advise you fully. If you do not have an evaluated transcript(s)or an unofficial transcript to present to the advisor for your advising session, we will not be able to assist you with registration.
Before advising, a readmit student needs to:
- Follow instructions to re-apply to the college. If you have questions, please email nvcc@nv.edu for Summer 2023 applications and CTState-AdmissionsProcessing@ct.edu for Fall 2023 applications.
- Once you receive your acceptance email you are ready to set up an appointment* with a Guided Pathway (GP) advisor. GP advisors are assigned based upon your degree/certificate. To schedule an appointment, find your advisor listed on this page.
*Important note: When filling out the application you will be asked if you have courses from other institutions to be evaluated for transferability to CT State. Please follow the instructions to have them sent electronically to CT State Community college through parchment www.parchment.com (or your sending institution may also send them directly to CTState-TranscriptEval@ct.edu). Transcripts will be evaluated in the order they are received and applied to your account at that time. You will be notification via your college email account as to the progress of your transfer evaluation. Please wait until your transcript has been evaluated to book your Guided Pathway advising appointment.
