Connecticut State Community College President John Maduko, M.D., has been selected to serve on the Advisory Committee of Presidents for the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT).

ACCT, a non-profit educational organization, represents over 6,500 elected and appointed trustees governing more than 1,200 community, technical, and junior colleges in the United States and beyond.

The ACCT Advisory Committee of Presidents provides a presidential perspective on the services, policies, and positions of the association, contributing to the advancement of community colleges nationwide.

"I am honored to join The ACCT Advisory Committee of Presidents, a platform dedicated to shaping the future of community college higher education and fostering brighter futures for our communities,” said Maduko. “Together, we'll lend our collective insights to advance policies and services that empower both students and institutions.”

Maduko's appointment to the ACCT Advisory Committee of Presidents aligns with the committee's geographical division, representing the northeast region. His term will run through December 2025.

Jee Hang Lee, ACCT President and CEO, expressed gratitude for the commitment of trustees, presidents, and chancellors who volunteer for committees. "Insights from college leaders like President Maduko are invaluable to our work, he said. “The association's committees play an essential role in keeping ACCT focused on the needs of community college boards and the institutions they serve."

Maduko assumed office in June 2022 as the inaugural president of CT State Community College. In addition to ACCT, he serves on the College Board’s Community College Advisory Panel, Connecticut’s Anti-Defamation League regional board of directors, Governor Lamont’s Workforce Cabinet, the Connecticut Presidents’ Council, and the National Council of State Directors of Community Colleges. Prior to his appointment at the college, Maduko was the vice president for academic and student affairs at Minnesota State Community and Technical College. Maduko earned his doctor of medicine degree from St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from California State Polytechnic University Pomona, one of only three polytechnic universities in California.
