This is National Police Week, a time to honor America’s law enforcement community and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
The CT State Community College Police force is led by Chief Chute and Captain Cotto operating on five campuses yet supporting public safety across all locations. CT State continues to invest in public safety, expanding sworn officers to a sixth location in Norwalk and engaging in continuous improvement and training. CT State convened a “Critical Incident Workshop” in February with college, state and local public safety partners including Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center, CT State Police, Bridgeport Police and Fire Departments, CT State Emergency Management, and CT State Community College Police Department. This interagency training strengthens relationships and prepares for potential emergency situations. As Chief Chute said at the event, “This is practice with a purpose.”
We salute the incredible men and women of our police department and recognize the contributions of the entire public safety team including our Building and Grounds Officers, Dispatchers, support staff, and security contractors. Further, we recognize the world class faculty in the Criminal Justice program who are preparing our students to be the next generation of leaders in law enforcement, corrections, the court system, probation, parole, and other human services professions. We are grateful to all those working to make our community safer.
