The Medical Office Specialist program is designed to prepare you with the administrative skills, office protocols, medical terminology and health insurance information required to work successfully in medical offices, long-term care facilities and medical insurance companies. You will prepare for and take the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) national exam through the National Healthcare Association (NHA) upon successful completion of the program. All books and exams are included in the cost of the training.
In This Course You'll Learn To:
- review and answer practice correspondence
- operate computer systems to accomplish office tasks
- answer calls and schedule appointments
- greet patients and update electronic medical records
- update and maintain patient and other practice-specific information
- coordinate operation reports such as time and attendance
- demonstrate an understanding of insurance terminology, health reform, healthcare access, ethical and legal compliance issues
- demonstrate an understanding of HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accounting Act)
- understand the eligibility and reimbursement benefit structure of various insurances including Medicare and Medicaid
