Equitable IT Pathways Initiative (EITPI) Grant

CT State College's Equitable IT Pathways Initiative is $6.7M. $5.0M (75%) is funded through a Department of Labor – Employment and Training Administration grant and another $1.7M (25%) is committed through non-federal state and local resources.

IT Support Certificate

The IT Support Certificate is designed to give learners the skills they need for an entry-level IT role. The certificate course teaches skills including how to build a computer and install an operating system, system administration and security, networking, and troubleshooting. This certificate is composed of five classes that work in progression from beginner level to advanced level. Tuition does not include software or certification expenses.

Participants who take this certificate will be prepared for 6 individual industry-recognized certifications in addition to the overall IT Support Certificate. These costs are not included in the tuition. Credentials are:

  • CompTIA A+ Certification
  • CompTIA Network+ Certification
  • Microsoft Office Specialist in Word, Excel and PowerPoint Certifications
  • AWS Cloud Foundations Certification

In This Course, You’ll Learn To:

  • use the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook and achieve an intermediate level of understanding of all five applications
  • understand the most common hardware and software
  • support complex IT infrastructures
  • confidently design, configure, manage and troubleshoot any wired and wireless network configuration

  • IT Bootcamp or related experience, which includes familiarity with hardware (installation of RAM, expansion cards, peripheral devices, configure drives and general hardware troubleshooting), using computer software and MS Office applications.

    Artificial Intelligence Certificate

    The non-credit certificate in artificial intelligence offers a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental concepts and applications of AI. Through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical insights, participants will emerge equipped to harness the power of generative AI in their professional endeavors.

    Introduction to Generative AI

    This foundational course introduces participants to the world of Generative Artificial Intelligence, spanning across key areas such as language processing models and image generation technologies. Over four weekly sessions, students will explore the basic principles of Generative AI, get familiar with leading AI models like ChatGPT 4, delve into text-to-image generation, and discuss the ethical considerations and governance surrounding AI technologies. Designed for non-technical college students, professionals, and AI enthusiasts, the course aims to provide a comprehensive overview of Generative AI, highlighting its capabilities, applications, and societal impacts.

    AI in Society: Ethical and Social Implications

    This course equips students with the skills to leverage AI tools and technologies to enhance productivity and efficiency in both their professional and personal lives. Students will explore how generative AI, automation tools, and AI-driven planners can streamline workflows, optimize decision-making, and improve time management. The course covers practical applications with a focus on integrating AI tools into everyday processes. Through hands-on exercises and case studies, participants will develop strategies to maximize output with minimal effort, fostering growth in both career and life.

    Generative AI for Business and Creative Professionals

    This course provides an exploration of advanced Generative AI technologies and their applications across various business functions. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of leading AI models, such as ChatGPT, Claude 3, and Google Gemini, and learn how to leverage their capabilities through advanced prompting techniques. The course will cover cross-industry use cases in marketing, operations, and human resources, as well as the organizational integration challenges associated with implementing Generative AI solutions. Through hands-on exercises, case studies, and a final project, students will develop the skills needed to effectively deploy Generative AI in real-world business scenarios.

      Web Developer Certificate

      A Web Developer is responsible for ensuring websites look good and function properly. Web developers collaborate with website and graphic designers, monitor website traffic, troubleshoot website problems when they arise, and update websites as necessary. These classes are offered in progression from beginner to advanced level, which will also enable participants to earn 2 individual industry-recognized certificates in addition to the overall Web Developer Certificate. Tuition does not include software or book expenses.

      Students who complete this certificate will also complete Coursera’s Google UX Design and Google Data Analytics certificates.

      In This Course, You’ll Learn To:

      • program HTML for the web
      • format cascading style sheets (CSS) 
      • utilize some of the most popular website-building tools, such as WordPress and Wix 
      • understand the concept of content management systems (CMS) and building dynamic websites
      • demonstrate proficiency by maintaining your own portfolio
      • utilize basic language elements, object-oriented programming, web application basics, utility methods for arrays, observable and observer objects, date and times, using scanner regular expression and GUI programming

      Cybersecurity/Information Security Certificate

      A security certificate is used to provide a website's security level to general visitors, internet service providers (ISPs) and web servers. It's also known as a digital certificate and a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificate. These classes are offered in a progression from beginner to advanced level, which will also enable participants to earn three individual industry-recognized certifications in addition to the overall Cybersecurity/Information Security Certificate.  

      The following courses include one exam voucher in the tuition: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+.

      In This Course, You’ll Learn To:

      • identify the fundamental concepts of computer security
      • recognize security threats and vulnerabilities

      This certificate is intended for individuals with five years of hands-on experience architecting and implementing network solutions. Candidates should have experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) security best practices, AWS storage options and AWS networking, have knowledge of advanced networking architectures and interconnectivity options, and be able to design, implement and optimize global cloud networks. These classes are offered in a progression from beginner to advanced level, which will also enable participants to earn four individual industry-recognized certifications in addition to the overall Network and Cloud Certificate. One exam voucher for each AWS Cloud Foundations, Architecture, Operations and Developer is included in the tuition.

      In This Course, You’ll Learn To:

      This course will acquaint you with the computer terminology and devices that help manage digital information today. The curriculum will cover the installation of RAM, expansion cards, and peripheral devices as well as how to configure drivers and troubleshoot your Windows operating system. Learn to reformat a hard drive then partition and load Windows on it. Additional topics include troubleshooting basics, researching errors online, hardware trends, buying a new PC (pre-built vs. custom), and standards for monitors, hard drive sizes, ports, and optical drives. Additionally, viruses, spyware, surge protectors and backups will be discussed.

      Ready to jump into the exciting world of information technology (IT)? This fully online program will teach you everything you need to know to earn a Google IT Support certificate.

      Python

      This course offers an introduction to Python and its applications in industry and academia. Python is an interpreted, object-oriented, high-level programming language and can be used for creating Windows, UNIX and Mac applications, from simple console and web-based to elaborate graphic inter[1]faces for video games. Python standard packages such as Numpy, Scipy, and Scikit-learn offer a range of modern methods for big data analysis and machine learning, and constantly expand their capabilities. Students will explore applications of Python for machine learning, data analysis and computer-aided decision making, business and finance. This course is project-based. Students may work in groups or individually. Please bring a flash drive to class. Prerequisites: Intermediate Algebra and basic programming skills (in any language) are required

      Students in our non-credit career programs are not eligible for federal financial aid or free college funding. However, there are alternative funding options available, such as WIOA, SNAP, and scholarships.
