CT State Manchester sponsors a Faculty Fellowship Program for qualified individuals from underrepresented groups interested in beginning or advancing a career in higher education. The program provides the campus with the opportunity to attract, promote and maintain a diverse workforce by matching aspiring educators (fellows) with experienced full-time faculty (mentors).

Fellows are paid as part-time lecturers at the approximate rate of $5,400/three-credit course and must be eligible for employment in the State of Connecticut system.

Target Audience

Recent graduates who have earned a master’s degree in the past five years or will earn their degree by January 2024 are welcome to apply. Please note that applicants must have at least 18 graduate credits in discipline (no exceptions). Consistent with the college’s affirmative action goals, preference will be given to ethnically diverse candidates of color.

Program Activities

Fellows will be assigned to teach one section of an on-ground introductory course with oversight from a faculty mentor and will be responsible for all aspects of instruction. This will include activities such as the development of course syllabi, lessons, learning activities and assessment. In addition, fellows will be invited to attend relevant faculty meetings, professional development activities and other programmatic events.

Program Duration

The program will be one semester in length renewable for a second semester pending departmental review and approval. After the completion of one academic year (two semesters as a part-time lecturer), the fellow would join the standard adjunct pool. The long-range goals would be that the training received in the fellowship program would make fellows more marketable in higher education.

Screening Committee

Applications will be reviewed by a screening committee. Acceptance will be based on departmental needs and course availability.

Timeline

Applications will be accepted through May 1, 2023 for a Fall 2023 course assignment and by September 15, 2023 for a Spring 2024 course assignment.
