Capital Student News (CSN)

Capital Student News serves as a journalism venture exposing students to the exciting world of media. CSN makes it their goal to inform and engage the community of current events, campus news, and controversial topics. As one of the most diverse student bodies in the region, we provide thought-provoking stories on several platforms such as online/social media, and video that will be produced and published here at the college. We serve to give students an entry-level experience in the world of communication media.

The purpose of the Career and Entrepreneurship Success (CAES) Club is to establish a community of students dedicated to the acquisition and development of skills necessary for networking with potential employers and pursuing career options. The club invites several guest speakers each semester to present on diverse topics based on career readiness, life design, transfer planning, scholarships and more. It serves as a platform for students to connect with potential employers and gather information and knowledge to make informed decisions about their career interests.

The purpose of this club is to bring together chess players at the college and in the Greater Hartford community to share their interest in chess and to promote an understanding of the game for its own sake – as an art and as an intellectual sport. For competitive-minded members, the club provides an organized chess tournament venue. Membership in the Chess Club is open to CT State Community College students with an interest in chess, regardless of his/her experience or playing ability.

A welcoming space for students to engage in meaningful discussions on current events, social issues, and community topics. The Tunxis Community Outreach Club organizes all types of outreach activities to benefit the Tunxis and local community. Past projects have included several Faces of Homelessness Speakers event, a sock drive for local homeless residents, a Connect 2.0 survey on diversity and Tunxis student sense of belonging, a Bring It to the Table event on political conversations, a mental health forum re the community college shooting in Oregon, several bake or coffee beverage sales and drives to benefit Tunxis students and St. Vincent de Paul homeless shelter. The purpose of this organization is to repair and configure donated computers for distribution to CT State Manchester students in need of services and to assist students who need help repairing their computers. All computer services are free of charge. Donations to the club’s fund for services are encouraged but not required.
