Let's Get Ready also sends out weekly texts reminding students of important dates such as FAFSA renewal, class registration, and finals preparation or offering helpful suggestions on resume building, internships, and time management, or occasionally just checking in on how you are doing. So not only can you text us with questions, we will text you too!

    • Leading Your Multi-Generation Team

Beginning this year with the birth of Generation Beta, the world has seven generations, most of whom are in the workforce. Generations are shaped by major events, technologies, and social transformations. During their respective decades they lived common cultural, social and historical movements. These experiences influenced the beliefs and attitudes they bring into the workplace. How will you lead these multiple generations?

You will identify your connections to each generation, consider how the generations may perceive you, review your leadership challenges, and decide the leadership approaches for each generation that work better for you.

Leading Your Multi-generation Team includes these multi-generational topics: differences and similarities, work traits, unique interest and needs, harmful stereotypes, motivating, retention, professional development, mutual mentorship, change management, communication styles, persuasive language, selling to each cohort, turnoffs, teamwork, meetings, and teleworking.

Registrants will leave with reference materials and a personalized leadership and office roadmap.

      Frequently Asked Questions for Students

      • Yes! It's important to your education and career plans to choose an appropriate major and courses that will meet the requirements at your next school. The earlier you start planning, the easier the transfer process will be! You may be eligible for assistance with application fees by visiting Conntac Inc.

      • You should reach out to your Guided Pathways advisor to discuss your transfer plans and make sure you're on the right path for a successful transfer.

        Find Your Advisor

      •  The Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) degree program is the most easily transferable. LAS represents the broad education of a college degree; your major represents your area of specialization, which is either academic or career/training centered. Earning your LAS degree at CT State will give you time and flexibility in choosing a major.
You may also consider programs the following programs:
        • Math/Science for medicine, health, engineering and science majors
        • Behavioral Science for psychology, sociology, anthropology and social work majors
        • General Studies for any major that requires special courses that do not fit well into the LAS major

Other majors at CT State may have transfer agreements in place (see above), or in some cases, unofficial arrangements. Check with your program coordinator or Guided Pathways advisor to learn more.

        • Cost: Financial Aid and scholarships may be available—be sure to fill out the FAFSA and check in with the Financial Aid Office!
        • Location: If commuting, you'll want to research the distance and travel time to the college as well as considerations about ease and availability of parking
        • Availability of Major: Does the college/university you plan to attend have your intended program of study?
        • Competitiveness: How many transfer students does the college accept? Are there academic and/or GPA requirements? Do you meet those standards?
        • Academic and Student Support Services: Look into academic facilities, library, tutoring and other student services
        • Campus Community: Can you see yourself on the grounds? In the buildings? Finding or creating a community with other students and faculty?
        • Extracurricular Activities and Sports: Do you want to write for a school newspaper? Join an intramural basketball league? Volunteer at a local hospital?
      • Speak with the transfer counselor at the college or university you would like to attend regarding transferability of your classes and credits.

      • Each college evaluates credits independently, so even if CT State accepts credits from another college, the next school you attend will need to re-evaluate your credits for transfer.

      • If you have concerns regarding your transfer credit evaluation, we encourage you to consult with the transfer counselor at your new school to determine the next steps for an appeal.

      • If you have questions about the school you are transferring to you should reach out to the transfer counselor at the school you plan to transfer to. If you have questions about your major or the transfer process, you can contact your Guided Pathways Advisor with any questions.

      Workplace Accommodation Request Process

      • Temp Last Modified: 2025-03-05

CT State does not discriminate on the basis of disability, pregnancy status, religion or any other protected identity in the administration of, or access to, its programs, services or activities.

If you feel that you need reasonable accommodation as a result of a qualifying medical condition, pregnancy status, or for another protected identity, e.g., religion, to allow you to perform the essential functions of your position, please start the workplace accommodation request process.

      First-Time Employee Accommodation Process

      StaffAccessibility Portal

      Reasons for Accommodations

      • Medical Conditions

Under this procedure, a person with a qualifying medical condition is defined as “a person who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, has a record of such an impairment, or is regarded as having an impairment.”

      • Pregnancy Status

In accordance with the Pregnancy Fairness Worker Act and in compliance with Federal Title IX guidance, a person who is pregnant may make reasonable workplace accommodation requests.

      • Religion

Individuals with religious obligations that may impact an employee or applicant’s ability to participate in the administration of or access to its programs, services or activities may make reasonable workplace accommodation requests.

For questions or concerns, please reach out to CT State’s ADA Coordinator Designees:

      Procedure for Requesting Workplace Accommodations

person with injured arm goes over paperwork with another personCT State works to ensure that we, as an employer, provide “reasonable accommodations” to employees or applicants unless doing so would cause an “undue hardship.” The term reasonable accommodation generally refers to any change in the work environment or in the way things are customarily done that enables an employee to enjoy equal employment opportunities.

CT State’s Office of Equity and Civil Rights analyzes each request for accommodation on a case-by-case basis and makes a good faith effort to reasonably accommodate a qualified employee or applicant making such a request.

For workplace accommodations related to a medical condition, the individual with a qualifying condition must inform the employer that the accommodation is needed since employers are only obligated to provide reasonable accommodation for known disabilities.

Employees may request workplace accommodation through the Office of Equity and Civil Rights. To that end, we engage in an interactive process with all employees seeking reasonable workplace accommodations. Our involvement ensures a fair, independent, and confidential process whereby reasonable accommodations are explored via the interactive process. Sharing of information is limited to a need-to-know basis to ensure proper accommodations can be identified.

Once a request is made and any necessary paperwork has been provided, we meet with the employee and discuss their request for accommodation. In this process, we explore any major life activities affected, the employee’s job description, the essential functions of the position and other relevant information. Please note, at times, we may request a waiver to speak to a medical provider should additional information be needed to assist in the process. We will then meet with the supervisor to discuss only the essential functions of the position and the accommodation requested. Finally, we take the information obtained from both the employee and the supervisor and conduct an analysis to determine a reasonable accommodation. The interactive process is an ongoing and continuous process between the employer and the employee seeking the workplace accommodation.

Employees may request accommodations through their HR Generalist or directly through the new CT State Accommodate portal.

      Procedure for Appealing Workplace Accommodations

All workplace accommodations can be appealed. To appeal, please contact CT State’s ADA Coordinator:

John-Paul Chaisson-Cardenas, VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
